Five minutes with Charlotte Left,Social Marmalade

This month, we chat to Charlotte Left, founder of Social Marmalade - a social media consultant and Instagram expert.

1. Who are you and why did you start Social Marmalade?

I have always loved working in Marketing and working with smaller brands so I set up the business so I could work flexibly doing something I love!

2. What’s your advice to others starting their own business?!

Don’t wait, go for it! There is never a perfect time and you’ll never know everything so if you can accept that then take the leap! There are definitely ups and downs when working for yourself and you have to ride the waves, but if you can meet like-minded people through local networking or social media it helps to know you’re not alone!

3. What does a brief day in your life look like?!

School run, coffee (a must!) then usually I’m either running a workshop, meeting clients or creating content. I try and take a break over lunch and catch up in the news before I do admin or more content and school pick up. I quite often return to work in the evenings if I have to tick off a few more jobs/catch up with emails and messages.

4. What’s your guilty pleasure?!

The SheerLuxe newsletter- I’m a sucker for looking at fashion!

5. Favourite holiday destination?

Skiing in France!

6. What is your earliest child memory?

Pony riding down the backroads in the countryside.

7. What do you think is the key to happiness?

Health, family, friendships and accepting who you are, warts and all!

8. Window or aisle seat?

Aisle

 9. What’s a super power you wish you had?

Funnily my son asked me this the other day… to time travel or just manage time!

10. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Understand your WHY. What’s really motivating you deep down and focus on that goal? Forget all the other stuff as it doesn’t matter.
